About Us
WillowFarm Dogs is located in Ethel, Washington. We are off I-5 about 7 miles and only an hour from Portland or Seattle. We moved here in June 2006 to a lovely place with 5 acres and a 4 bedroom home with a huge 40x126 foot pole barn which will eventually become our training facility. We even have a weeping willow tree along side the driveway. We moved here for the opportunity of working our dogs year-round in moderate weather and to be closer to family. WillowFarm Dogs was born in Willow, Alaska. Willow is considered by many to be the dog mushing capital of Alaska. Five acres surrounded by undeveloped woodlands and wetlands was ideal place to have dogs as there was no one around who will be bothered by barking and there was plenty of room to run and play. I lived in Willow for 22.5 years. My father, Bob Sheffield, age 81, lives with me and is in charge of the gardens, yard maintenance, and occasionally dog feeding. I retired in December 2004 as a partner in an accounting firm specializing in taxes and so will have more time to train and play with the dogs. I have had dogs all my life. In the late 60’s early 70’s I owned, trained, and showed Irish Setters and English Setters. Life got in the way of showing dogs again until 1991 when I showed Shelties for a friend. My daughter, Sherry Sims – SIMCO Shelties – still shows and occasionally breeds Shelties.
I got my first English Cocker, Daniel, (Multi CH Killarney’s Deuces are Wild, CD) from Marcy Stauffer in July of 1992. Daniel did everything, show dog, obedience dog, agility dog and was the love of my life. I lost Daniel to cancer in July of 2003. Daniel was the start of my life in show dogs again, a life I really hope to continue til I am parted from this world. I breed English Cockers only occasionally, since I prefer to train and and show my dogs rather than breed. - Jean Sheffield
